A team of four Booker T. Washington students competed African American Heritage Bowl and won! The championship team includes senior Jackson Bailey, junior Krish Kumar, sophomore Lance Brightmire, and freshman Alaynna Smith-Williams.
Tulsa City County Library hosts the competition in February each year to commemorate the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. This year's bowl took place virtually.
A library representative visited the school to present the team with a trophy and four Amazon Fire 7 tablets, which the team plans to donate to the Tulsa Boys Home
"Needless to say, we are proud of the team. They are an incredible group of Hornets," said assistant principal and team sponsor Matt Myers.
