Counselor Jennifer Sack and Principal Woolridge recently visited Washington D.C. for the American School Counselor Association awards gala. Jennifer is the Oklahoma School Counselor of the Year and top five finalist for National School Counselor of the Year!
While in D.C., they had the opportunity to visit the U.S. Department of Education where they participated in roundtable discussions with various leaders from the Department of Education on topics that included higher education, career tech education, civil rights, special education, FAFSA, and more.
Jennifer has been a counselor at Booker T. Washington High School since 2012, providing mental health support and graduation prep to students.
“I have been surrounded by some of the most passionate educators and school leaders I could hope to work with, and I have had some great mentors along the way. Tulsa Public Schools has really allowed me to grow as a professional. It is a joy to come to work at Booker T every day and be surrounded by teachers, colleagues, and leaders who are genuinely invested in our students' success.”
Jennifer said her favorite part of her job is getting to talk to students about their hopes and dreams as well as their worries and fears.
“They are such cool individuals and listening to what they want to do in the world always leaves me feeling hopeful and optimistic about the future.”
