Ramona Rogers named BTW Teacher of the Year

Ramona Rogers is the 2025-2026 Booker T. Washington High School Teacher of the Year!

Ramona joined Team Tulsa in 2022 as the computer science teacher at Booker T. In addition to teaching, she is an advisor for STEM-based student activities, including a drone racing team. We asked Ramona a few questions to learn more about her and her role.

What led you to a career in education?

I was drawn to education through a deep desire to empower young people with skills that change the trajectory of their lives. After years in entrepreneurship, coaching, and leadership development, I recognized education as the most powerful space to merge purpose, impact, and practical skill-building. Teaching allows me to pour into students academically while also helping them build confidence, clarity, and belief in what is possible for them.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

Seeing students realize their potential—especially when they begin to see themselves as capable, intelligent, and worthy of success. I love creating learning experiences that connect technology, real-world relevance, and personal growth, and watching students grow into leaders who believe in themselves.

What is one thing you are passionate about outside of work?

I am deeply passionate about personal development and self-mastery. Outside of the classroom, I coach, write, and facilitate workshops focused on helping individuals—youth and adults alike—develop the mindset, habits, and systems needed to reach their greatest potential. I also enjoy walking, reading, and playing pickleball as part of maintaining balance and wellness.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

I am a lifelong learner who believes the mindset must be taught alongside skill set. I have helped launch innovative programs in STEM, AI, robotics, drone racing, and career readiness, and I am committed to expanding access to opportunities—especially for students who may not traditionally see themselves represented in these spaces. My work is rooted in purpose, excellence, and service, and I strive to lead by example in everything I do.
