Booker T. Washington hosts a wide range of Advanced Placement courses for students to choose from. Whether a student wants to challenge him or herself in a single AP class or pursue a full schedule of AP classes, BTW can meet the needs of students who seek academic challenge.

Booker T. Washington High School is home to a world class fine arts program. Whether students are interested in visual, vocal, musical or stage arts, there is a niche for them here.
Course Offerings
Film
IB Film is a two-year program offered in the junior and senior years. The IB film course aims to develop students as proficient interpreters and makers of film texts. Through the study and analysis of film texts, and through practical exercises in film production, the film course develops students’ critical abilities and their appreciation of artistic, cultural, historical and global perspectives in film

Math
BTW is focused on preparing students for college and career, and math too often can be an obstacle for students successfully progressing from high school through college. In order to best prepare students, it is the expectation that all BTW students will be enrolled in math all four years of high school. Exceptions are made for those students enrolled in Career Tech or concurrent enrollment.

We are proud to offer five world languages at BTW:
- Chinese
- French

- Japanese
- Spanish
Levels Offered
Incoming freshmen may enroll in level one of any of the languages. This will allow a student who chooses to stay in a language program all four years to reach the AP and/or IB level by their senior year. Since scheduling conflicts sometimes exist, we ask students to identify their top two language choices when enrolling.
Placement Tests
For students who have started their world language studies prior to entering BTW, we administer placement exams to determine the appropriate level for enrollment. Placement exams are administered in French, German, Russian and Spanish. Testing takes place at BTW in the spring and during the first week of school.
Honors and Recognition
BTW students have the opportunity to see how their language skills rank at the state and national levels by taking exams and participating in language competitions in French, German, Russian, and Spanish.
More Travel
Our French and Spanish teachers have lead educational trips for students during the summer and spring break. Recently students have traveled to London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, and Puerto Rico.
Exchange Programs
Currently we have teachers managing exchange programs with schools in Tulsa’s Sister Cities in Russia, Germany, China and Japan. BTW teachers and students may spend 2-3 weeks during the school year or summer visiting these cities and representing Tulsa. We also welcome international visitors to our school throughout the school year. Some BTW students and their families participate in this cultural exchange by housing the visitors during their stay.
