Shopping List:

  • Booker T. Spirit shirts
  • Pants, slacks, shorts, joggers, cargos, jeans, skirts
  • Shoes for walking and climbing stairs
  • School-color outerwear (hoodies, jackets, sweaters, etc.)

Every day, all day, students will be held responsible to wear:

  • BTW School ID, visibly – replacement ID’s are $5/each – do not alter ID’s
  • Top – BTW Spirit Shirts ONLY - No exposed undergarments, no strapless, shoulders must be covered, no bare midriffs, no low-cut necklines, no bare backs.
  • Bottom – Length must be appropriate for climbing stairs, sitting in chairs, bending over, etc

Items of Special Note:

  • See Policy 2601-R – Permitted garments shall be clean, in good repair, and shall have no holes, worn through, slashes or rips.
  • This includes BTW Spirit Wear – shirts and other gear are not to be cut, torn, tattered, shredded, or altered from the manufacturer’s design.
  • A parent/guardian may think something is not too short, the discretion is up to the school to determine what is appropriate or not.
  • Short-shorts, skirts or any bottom that shows any part of the student’s upper thigh or gluteus maximus are absolutely and unequivocally banned. This includes, but is not limited to: tennis skirts, athletic shorts, or any garment deemed unacceptable by the school.
  • See Policy 2601-R – “Tights or leggings worn as outerwear, spandex, bike shorts, bathing/swimming wear, sleepwear (including pajamas), etc., are not permitted.”
  • Parents please take note: any student on campus during the normal school day and normal school hours is expected to comply with this policy. Students who arrive in inappropriate clothing OR change to inappropriate clothing will be immediately sent home, and a disciplinary referral will be placed on the student’s record. Yes, repeated refusal to comply with the designated Dress Code can be a suspendable offense.
  • If the student is not picked up and cannot drive themselves home and is left to stay the rest of the day, then an Out-of-School Suspension will be imposed for violation of code 214: Disruptive Conduct: “Inappropriate and/or disrespectful behavior… that disrupts, hinders, interferes with school activities” for a minimum of (3) school days.
  • Dressing in an inappropriate manner when there is a designated Dress Code is “inappropriate” and also “disrespectful” to our school. It also “disrupts school activities” by being an unwarranted disciplinary distraction.

Face masks are not required; however, you are welcome to wear one.

ANY VISIBLE CLOTHING THAT IS ALTERED BEYOND THE MANUFACTURER’S PATTERN AND/OR IS STRETCH-TO-FIT IS NOT ALLOWED

The fact that something is not specifically listed is not a valid excuse for dressing in a manner contrary, or is not complimentary to, or respectful of the intent outlined by this uniform code.

Students who elect not to conform to the dress and grooming rules set forth by TPS policy 2601-R, and the BTW Uniform Code will be subject to disciplinary actions and/or sanctions as defined by the TPS Behavior Response Plan.

ADMINISTRATION RESERVES THE AUTHORITY TO DETERMINE ANY SPECIFIC INDIVIDUAL, GARMENT, OR ITEM NON-COMPLIANT WITH THE DRESS CODE.
