Admissions

GPA:  2.5 cumulative GPA, fall semester of application year plus previous full year. 

Test Scores: TPS will consider students’ highest MAP or OPI scores from the past year. The student must score at or above the 35th percentile in both Reading and Math to qualify.

Attendance: no longer used for admissions 

Teacher Recommendation: no longer used for admissions

Discipline: Suspensions will no longer automatically disqualify students from consideration. All students with suspension will be reviewed by a committee to approve or deny the application to move forward. 

• If an applicant is not a current TPS student, all documentation relating to any suspension record must be submitted for consideration. 
• For all applicants currently enrolled in TPS, suspension information, including details of the incident, will be pulled from Powerschool.

Approximately 60% of our students are accepted from Quadrants 1 and 2, and approximately 40% of our students are accepted from Quadrants 3 and 4. 

Quadrants are based on the TPS elementary school assigned to the home address.

Applications for the 2026-27 school year will be accepted from January 12, 2026, to February 6, 2026. Applications will be available at enroll.tulsaschools.org. 

1. Only current 8th graders may shadow.
2. Shadowing is from 8:30 AM - 3:35 PM.
3. Every effort will be made to match shadows with Ambassadors with similar interests.
4. Students may bring a sack lunch or purchase lunch from the cafeteria.
5. There are a limited number of spaces, so please register early.
6. Students must be in academic and disciplinary good standing with their MS/JH to participate. 
7. Parents are responsible for transportation; students must be picked up by 3:50 pm.

• Tours are led by members of the Senior Class and conclude with a Q&A session with school administration.

There are two evening events available: Open House and Showcase Night

Open House is Tuesday, November 11th, 5:30-7:00 PM

• Evening starts with a 45-minute presentation in the auditorium led by school adminstrators.
• Evening concludes with a 45-minute tour of the building.
• Reservations are recommended (due to tour group size).

Showcase Night is Thursday, January 22nd, 6:00-8:00 PM

• "Showcase” is a fun-filled evening, where you will have the opportunity to learn about life as a Hornet.
• Evening begins with a Club/Organization Fair and the opportunity to speak with our teachers about their courses.
• Evening concludes with an auditorium presentation, where you will learn about our academic, athletic, and fine arts programs and see performances from our student groups.
• Tours are not available during this event.
• No reservations are required. 

MAP Testing

MAP tests will be offered to out-of-district magnet applicants in January; dates are to be determined. Students who are not currently enrolled in Tulsa Public Schools and do not have test scores from Spring 2025 or Fall 2025 are eligible to test. Only students who have submitted a criteria magnet school application will be tested.
